Organization
The Beach Watchers program in each county is administered by the WSU County Extension Director for that county.
Beach Watchers often work closely with the county's Marine Resources Committee, providing both citizen-input as well as willing hands and horsepower to carry out MRC initiatives.
The regional Beach Watcher program is supported by special federal appropriations through the efforts of U.S. Senator Patty Murray and Congressman Rick Larsen. All federal funds are processed through the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and follow EPA guidelines for use. The Island County program is also funded in part by University of Washington SeaGrant, private contributions and special fund raising.
