Jefferson County Beach Watchers
Every year WSU Jefferson County Extension offers a series of classes to educate
residents about their watershed and water related topics.
Classes meet at
the WSU Jefferson County Extension Office in Port Hadlock. A typical day includes
morning class time at the Extension Office classroom and afternoon field trips
to local sites. There is some flexibility if participants need to miss a session
or two.
After completion
of the Water/Beach Watcher Training Program, class graduates are presented with
many opportunities to get involved in their local communities, and are expected
to contribute 50 hours of volunteer time during the next year. WSU Water/Beach
Watchers volunteer opportunities include: local education, research and stewardship
projects through our numerous partnerships. In addition, Water/Beach Watchers
can take part in Advanced Training opportunities to tour the Elwha River Restoration
Project and tour the upper reaches of Quilcene watershed to see firsthand where
our water comes from.
