Beach Watcher Seining Team Gearing Up for 2006 Season:
January 30, 2006
The Beach Watcher seining team met with representatives from the Skagit River System Cooperative (SRSC) and NOAA on November 8th to review 2005 seining results and to plan for the 2006 season. Initial Harrington results were presented by Eric Beamer of SRSC. The data is considered preliminary at this point, but will be available along with Elger Bay data on this web site once data clears their quality control process.
The 2006 seining season will start on February 7th at Race and Harrington Lagoons on Whidbey Island. Seining will take place at Elger Bay on Camano Island on February 8th. Additional volunteer participation is needed this season with the inclusion-- for the first time -- of the Race Lagoon pocket estuary. If you are interested in assisting the "core" teams, please contact Bob Buck at bbuck@whidbey.net on Whidbey, or Barbara Brock at wbbrock@whidbey.net on Camano.
