Jaumea carnosa (Marsh jaumea)

This is a low lying plant with fleshy cylindrical leaves and small (1/2 inch diameter) yellow flowers. It is found above the tide line on beaches and in salt marshes where it often grows among pickleweed (Salicornia sp.). It is a member of the aster family and blooms July to September. This species is native to the Pacific Northwest. Other common names for it are fleshy jaumea and salty Susan.
