Spirorbis spp. (Dwarf tubeworm)

These tubeworms are easy to identify because of their tiny size; their tightly coiled hard calcareous tubes are only 1/8th inch (3 mm.) in diameter. They can be found attached to rock, shells, seaweed, and seagrasses. These polychaetes are also called spiral tubeworms and tiny tubeworms. Like their larger relatives Serpula Columbiana, tubeworms of the genus Spirorbis belong to the polychaete family Serpulidae.
