This
small (less than 1 inch) creature is not a nudibranch, but instead,
more closely related to bubble snails. Its appearance is
quite dark with tiny speckles of a lighter shade. Look for
it on muddy beaches where you are likely to first spot its gelatinous
egg masses. Melanochlamys is a predator, feeding
on small worms. Aglaja ocelligera is another similar
species that may be confused with Melanochlamys .
