Haliclona sp. (Purple encrusting sponge)

The purple encrusting sponge can be found on boulders low in the intertidal. It's usually easy to recognize because of its pink to purple and sometimes gray color and prominent oscula (excurrent pores). It has the typical soft velvety sponge texture.
