Several species from the genus Cerebratulus are found in the area encompassed by the Salish Sea.  They have a flattened body and some species tend to fragment if they are picked up. These nemerteans can get quite large, exceeding a length of 6 feet (2 meters).  Around Whidbey Island we have found them while digging on sandy beaches and also under rocks.  They prey primarily on polychaetes.
