Acanthodoris nanaimoensis (Nanaimo dorid)

This
little nudibranch reaches a length of only 1-¼ inches.
It is distinctive in having yellow tipped papillae covering its
body and the gills and rhinophores tipped with reddish coloration
that ranges from maroon to brown. There are two color phases,
one with the primary background color being white and in the darker
variation, brown to brownish gray. This species can be found
in rocky areas from the low intertidal to water 33 feet deep.
It feeds on bryozoans and colonial ascidians.
Other
common names for this species are wine plumed spiny doris, red gilled
dorid, and rufus tipped nudibranch.
